Lib Dems announce candidate for Inverness South by-election
26/09/2011
The Highland Liberal Democrats have today announced that longstanding active member of the local community Carolyn Caddick will be their candidate in the Inverness South by-election, due to be held on Thursday 3rd November.
Carolyn lives in Westhill with her husband, Dave, and their two sons who both attend Culloden Academy. She previously served for six years as Chair of the School Board at Cradlehall Primary – and remains actively involved in education as a mentor for pupils in local schools; an ambassador for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM); and a Board Member at Inverness College.

Before returning to her native Highlands in 2000, Carolyn served for 17 years as an officer in the Army where she rose to the rank of Major. She now works as a Human Resources Manager for Lifescan Scotland.

Commenting on her selection, Carolyn said:

“I am enormously looking forward to the campaign ahead and the chance to speak up for the community that I belong to.

“Despite the circumstances which led to this by-election, it should represent a positive opportunity for local people to engage in the future of our area and choose a new councillor to make our voices heard on the issues that really matter.

“The diverse communities within the Inverness South ward are at an exciting time in their development. From the planned education campus to the overdue improvement of our creaking transport infrastructure, we can’t afford to sit on the sidelines. We can play a pivotal role in building a stronger, more diverse economy while enhancing our local environment too.”

Sitting Inverness South Lib Dem councillor Thomas Prag said:

“It would be difficult to find a candidate better qualified or more committed to working for the people of Inverness South than Carolyn.

“Her enthusiasm and enormous breadth of experience has been an asset to our local area and our city for many years. She would be an invaluable addition to the team of councillors currently serving the ward – and I very much look forward to working with her in the weeks ahead.”
