SAVE OUR POST OFFICE
Save our post office
The closure of the Post Office within TJ Jones represents the loss of a vital public service from Fort William town centre.
A Post Office is far more than somewhere to post letters and parcels. It provides essential banking services, access to cash, bill payments, government services and support for local businesses, while many residents—particularly older people and those without easy access to online services—depend upon it every week.
Fort William is the largest town in the Highlands and serves not only local residents but also surrounding rural communities and thousands of visitors each year. Losing a town centre Post Office would be a significant step backwards for our community.
Petition to Post Office Limited
We, the undersigned, call upon Post Office Limited to:
Take immediate and direct action to secure a new operator for a Post Office in Fort William town centre.
Commit the necessary resources to identifying and supporting a suitable retail partner without delay.
Work openly with local businesses, community organisations and elected representatives to ensure there is no long-term loss of Post Office services.
Recognise Fort William's importance as the service centre for Lochaber and guarantee continued access to a full range of Post Office services for residents, businesses and visitors.
The responsibility for maintaining this essential public service rests with Post Office Limited. We urge the organisation to demonstrate that commitment by delivering a permanent, sustainable solution for Fort William as a matter of urgency.
