Break up The Highland Council

It’s time to say goodbye to Highland Council.

Highland Council has become far too big and centralised to work for the communities it’s supposed to serve. It covers an area larger than Wales, yet decisions are made miles away from the people they affect.

Council services are stretched thin. Roads are crumbling. Local voices are being ignored. And for years, nothing has changed.

The current structure simply isn’t working.

Communities across the Highlands deserve councils that are closer, more responsive, and properly accountable. Smaller, local councils would be better placed to deliver services that actually meet the needs of residents — not decisions handed down by a council that's out of touch.

Yet the SNP want to keep the status quo. They refuse to even consider reform. Meanwhile, local services continue to decline, and communities continue to lose out.
